UNEED Electrical & Appliance Services continue to provide an essential service during this difficult time. We are continuously reviewing all COVID-19 updates and directives from all levels of Government and medical advisers. It is ‘business as usual’ for us but with new protocols in place to minimise the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus.
These new protocols include:
Completion of Infection Control Training
All our electricians have successfully completed COVID-19 Infection Control Training that was developed by the Department of Health and Aspen Medical.
This means we know what the best practice is minimise the spread of the COVID-19, especially in relation to recommended best hygiene practices
The course covers the fundamentals of infection prevention and control of COVID-19. The main topics include COVID-19 – what is it?, signs and symptoms, keeping safe – protecting yourself and others and myth busting.
Hand Washing & Hygiene
Our Technicans and Electricians will always wear a mask when they visit your home. They will wash their hands before and after completing a job. As well, every van has a hand sanitiser in it. We will also ask our customers to wipe all services that have been touched by us. This includes door handles, kitchen benches and taps.
When we visit we also ask that you maintain 1.5 metres social distancing from us when we visit your home to complete a job. Unfortunately this means we cannot shake your hand when we visit.
Screening Questions We Ask When You Call
When you call up we will ask the following questions:
- Have you or any of your family returned from overseas within the last 14 days?
- Are you or any of your family in a 14 day self isolation period?
- Do you or any of your family have flu like symptoms?
By asking these questions we help to reduce the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus. If you answer yes to any of these questions then we cannot visit your home. We will only be able to visit one week after the 14 day period of you have received clearance from a Doctor that you do not have the COVID-19 virus.
Our Technicians and Electricians will ask these questions again when they arrive at your home. If you answer yes to any of the questions they will leave your house immediately.
We are finding as more and more people are working from home that we have received an increase in requests. This is especially true for kitchen and laundry appliances that need to be repaired.
To assist with this increase in workload we are scheduling jobs that are emergencies or critical. This means the fault or issues is substantially disrupting your normal day to day living.
The following shows examples of issues that we consider to be emergencies or critical in nature:
- Elderly person with a broken washing machine
- Family of five with two cooktop elements not working
- Security light not working
- Faulty switch in bathroom
It doesn’t mean we cannot assist with your electrical or appliance repair. However, it does mean we may not be able to do it as quickly as we normally would if it is a non urgent matter.
In addition, if you have a power outage please call me directly on 1300 179 888. If we cannot attend quickly, we will provide information on another electrician who may be able to assist.
